There are many different theoretical approaches to counselling, but the most important part of therapy for a successful outcome is the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and client.
I have studied in a integrative way which means that I can use any counselling approach to suit you and the issues you wish to address.
Every person is unique and so each may benefit from a different approach to be able to fully understand and work through their issues.
Humanistic values underpin my work, which means that I work with Carl Rogers' Core Conditions. I will treat you with respect, empathy and positivity. I am genuine and honest which will help you to fully understand why you are behaving and feeling the way you do. I will help you to evaluate your choices, which allows you to decide the best way forward.
I have also been trained to use creative tools including art therapy, so sometimes when it is difficult to really talk about what is worrying you, you might find it easier to explore your thoughts and feelings more creatively and this often opens up undiscovered feelings in a gentle and soothing way.
I am fully insured to work with adults and young people and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I uphold their ethical framework for good practice.
" One session with Jacqui made more of a positive impact on me than several therapy sessions with other professionals. She is supportive and genuinely caring and is continuing to help me through past trauma - something I couldn't have done without her. I thoroughly recommend Jacqui."
